Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best well-known for her character of detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she won the Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is famous as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue. The actress also starred on the drama show All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was born the only girl of her homemaker mother and high-ranking executive of her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood with 4 brothers. While she was a small girl, Delaney wanted to work as a reporter in the courtroom. In highschool, when she started modeling commercials, she moved to New York. Her first appearance as an actor came when she was a young, innocent girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Since then, Delaney has appeared in numerous TV dramas and films. The professional life she has had is better than her personal life. The accomplished actress battled addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fail. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
