Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. The following year, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988 was named Chief Correspondent to Congress. She was made chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was host and a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable news stories throughout the years, including fiscal reform, the budget and The Iran Contra saga. She travelled extensively together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
